Why I became a clinical hypnotist
Born to Polish Jewish parents who escaped Nazism and Communism, I landed on this plane in the late 70s, in the capital city of Nova Scotia. My childhood was a safe Canadian one, with eccentric and loving immigrants.
Having survived 1930s and 40s Poland, and the subsequent journey to Canada, my parents instilled some simple values in me:
love everybody
your happiness is not more important than anyone else’s
and most importantly, education is the most sacred of riches.
My dad told me when I was about 5 or 6 that I could go to a university called Oxford. Little did I know that this was my first experience of hypnosis. Fifteen or so years later, I went! I studied Classical Literature and Languages, i.e. Classical Greek, Plato and Socrates.
A lot was learned in those old libraries and hallways. I learned from translating and reading, talking to others. But I also learned from being there, from the walls.
And yet academia was not right for me. In the Wild West of New Mexico, traveling back and forth while studying at Oxford, I found love. A man, but also a landscape, a horizon. Those hills told me stories, of Native Americans, of other times, and of suffering beyond my own.
Practicing on my yoga teacher and student path, I spent time in traditional teepees, sitting with my legs crossed on the dirt. I can still hear the drum, and smell the fire pit, and taste the tastes. These long ceremonies and hours were some of the best of my life. Not because of the psychoactive experience, but because they reassured me that my childhood suspicions were right on. There is more to this story than meets the eye.
The layers of what is real are not claimable when we are stressed or sad. Philosophy books are great, but the soul has to be talked to in more than words.
A boyfriend told me 20+ years ago that I was a Soul Doc, and I never forgot it. That’s the power of the mind.
Indeed, living and loving in the Southwest, I learned about healing. There are more healers there per capita than anywhere in the world (I am told), and I think that saw them all (joke)!! I calculate that I’ve spent over 400 hours in talk and cognitive therapy (for the mind/soul), and half that time with more concrete modalities.
Part of the journey for me was to heal, and I admit some of it was also investigative.
I have worked with at least one of each of these fields, and in many cases, several:
osteopath
traditional cognitive therapy
Freudian therapist
EMDR therapist
co-parenting counselling

Each and every single one I can remember. Every. One.
They all shared a common vision, a dream for wellness. I have taken from all of them the essence of what I gained from my healing and synthesized it into who I am today, and the service I pass on to you.
And then fast forward to the formative experience of my life that led me to a desire to serve as a healer. And that is living with a sufferer of NPD, experiencing domestic violence, and the subsequent process of waking up from that nightmare.
If you are here on my page with trauma, PTSD, divorce, custody battle, physical symptoms from anxiety, lack of enthusiasm, low self-esteem, depression, know this: the mind wants to heal, but it also wants you to offer it a roadmap.
Just like at the doctor how they make a plan, so too does the mind need a plan for healing. Once I found the map, I overcame the symptoms of my decade-long nightmare with abuse. You can do it too.
Later on completing my PhD work at UNM, I took on Sanskrit, to more closely access my favorite books from the Buddhist and Yoga traditions. This brought me full circle, back to the study of the soul, and the heart.
Fast forward many years, now in Canada, life has brought me here to offer a combination of everything I’ve learned. A lot of spiritual seeking through religions and countries have shaped me into specializing in working with people who are passing through a transcendental time in life, a spiritual crisis-transition or that simply have reached a point of no return. I am at this juncture to listen to stories and be able to place them inside of my own experience, against the backdrop of my formal education, and my informal ones.
Today, I am a teacher, I am a promoter of the re-education of our minds. I know healers, but I also know about the genetics of healing. How to activate it in your body and mind.
After living in all the countries I lived in (Canada, USA, UK), coming from immigrant parents who escaped communism and Hitler, having moved away from the USA with two small children during, having survived abuse, and academia, and career changes— I feel sure that freedom from the confinements of social limitation, from stressors, from the judgment of others, is very much in our minds, and it is available to us at all times.
I’m holding a map of the Soulsway in my my mind and heart, and it is my highest honor to have the opportunity to see your hologram of that blueprint.
Hypnosis is a natural state of awareness that is thousands of years old and is it about giving the soul a map; a framework for change.
I offer you the fruits of my long studies and travels, and of my recovery.
Welcome to your
Soul’s Way.
